Chapter 4 : Jñāna Karm Sanyās Yog(4.2)

Chapter 4: Jñāna Karm Sanyās Yog
evaṁ paramparā-prāptam imaṁ rājarṣhayo viduḥ
sa kāleneha mahatā yogo naṣhṭaḥ parantapa||2||

Meaning : This spiritual knowledge was passed down through generations by wise royal sages. But over time, it was forgotten, O Arjuna.

There is a wisdom in the sun that silently says, ‘I am.’
This is the light of awakening—like the rising of the sun.
From this, a round, glowing light appears.
That light becomes the universe.
It is this light that governs and sustains the world.

Chapter 4 : Jñāna Karm Sanyās Yog(4.1)

Blog, Chapter 4: Jñāna Karm Sanyās Yog
śhrī bhagavān uvācha
imaṁ vivasvate yogaṁ proktavān aham avyayam
vivasvān manave prāha manur ikṣhvākave ’bravīt||1||

Meaning : Lord Krishna says:
“This spiritual wisdom is very ancient. I first taught it to the sun god. He passed it on to Manu, and Manu taught it to Ikshvaku. In this way, it was passed down through many generations. Because you are my devotee, I am now sharing this secret with you.

The light we call ‘I’—the sense of being—is never-ending.
It is the first light that appears in the universe.
Just like the sun rises and brings light to the world,
when we wake up from sleep, this inner light—the feeling of ‘I am’—
appears in the mind and makes us aware again.”
