bṛihat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ gāyatrī chhandasām aham
māsānāṁ mārga-śhīrṣho ’ham ṛitūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ||35||

Meaning : Among the great Sāma Veda chants, I am the chief.Among poetic meters, I am the Gayatri meter. Among months, I am Mārga-śīrṣha (the first month of the Hindu calendar).Among seasons, I am the creator of flowers (the sun).

mṛityuḥ sarva-haraśh chāham udbhavaśh cha bhaviṣhyatām
kīrtiḥ śhrīr vāk cha nārīṇāṁ smṛitir medhā dhṛitiḥ kṣhamā||34||

Meaning : I am death, the destroyer of all beings, and the origin and future of all.
I am fame, prosperity, and the speech of women.
I am memory, intelligence, determination, and forgiveness.

akṣharāṇām a-kāro ’smi dvandvaḥ sāmāsikasya cha
aham evākṣhayaḥ kālo dhātāhaṁ viśhvato-mukhaḥ||33||

Meaning : Among letters, I am the letter ‘A’ (the imperishable).
Among pairs of opposites, I am the compound word.
I am the inexhaustible Time itself.
I am the creator, having faces all around, all-pervading.

sargāṇām ādir antaśh cha madhyaṁ chaivāham arjuna
adhyātma-vidyā vidyānāṁ vādaḥ pravadatām aham||32||

Meaning : O Arjuna, among all creations, I am the beginning, the middle, and the end.Among all forms of knowledge, I am the knowledge of the self (spiritual wisdom),and among arguments or discussions, I am logical reasoning (truthful debate).

pavanaḥ pavatām asmi rāmaḥ śhastra-bhṛitām aham
jhaṣhāṇāṁ makaraśh chāsmi srotasām asmi jāhnavī||31||

Meaning : Among purifiers, I am the wind.Among warriors, I am Rāma.Among aquatic creatures, I am the makara (mythical sea beast).Among rivers, I am the Ganges (Jāhnavī).

prahlādaśh chāsmi daityānāṁ kālaḥ kalayatām aham
mṛigāṇāṁ cha mṛigendro ’haṁ vainateyaśh cha pakṣhiṇām||30||

Meaning : Among the Daityas (demons), I am Prahlāda.Among those who measure and track time, I am Time itself.Among beasts, I am the lion.Among birds, I am Garuḍa (the son of Vinatā).

anantaśh chāsmi nāgānāṁ varuṇo yādasām aham
pitṝīṇām aryamā chāsmi yamaḥ sanyamatām aham||29||

Meaning : Among the serpent-beings, I am Ananta (the infinite one).Among aquatic beings, I am Varuṇa (the god of the ocean).Among ancestors, I am Aryamā.And among enforcers or rulers of law, I am Yama (the god of death).

āyudhānām ahaṁ vajraṁ dhenūnām asmi kāmadhuk
prajanaśh chāsmi kandarpaḥ sarpāṇām asmi vāsukiḥ||28||

Meaning : Among weapons, I am the thunderbolt (Vajra).Among cows, I am Kāmadhenu, the wish-fulfilling cow.Among causes of procreation, I am Kandarpa (the god of love).Among serpents, I am Vāsuki (the serpent king).

uchchaiḥśhravasam aśhvānāṁ viddhi mām amṛitodbhavam
airāvataṁ gajendrāṇāṁ narāṇāṁ cha narādhipam||27||

Meaning : Among horses, know Me to be Ucchaihśravas, born of the nectar of immortality.Among elephants, I am Airāvata.And among men, I am the king (a ruler or monarch).

aśhvatthaḥ sarva-vṛikṣhāṇāṁ devarṣhīṇāṁ cha nāradaḥ
gandharvāṇāṁ chitrarathaḥ siddhānāṁ kapilo muniḥ||26||

Meaning : Among all trees, I am the sacred peepal tree (Ashvattha).Among divine sages, I am Narada.Among celestial musicians (Gandharvas), I am Chitraratha.And among the perfected beings (Siddhas), I am the sage Kapila.
