evam etad yathāttha tvam ātmānaṁ parameśhvara
draṣhṭum ichchhāmi te rūpam aiśhwaraṁ puruṣhottama||3||
Meaning : It is exactly as You have described Yourself, O Supreme Lord. Now, O Supreme Person, I wish to see Your divine, majestic form.

bhavāpyayau hi bhūtānāṁ śhrutau vistaraśho mayā
tvattaḥ kamala-patrākṣha māhātmyam api chāvyayam||2||
Meaning : Indeed, I have heard from You in detail about the creation and dissolution of beings, O lotus-eyed one, and also (about) Your eternal greatness.
arjuna uvācha
mad-anugrahāya paramaṁ guhyam adhyātma-sanjñitam
yat tvayoktaṁ vachas tena moho ’yaṁ vigato mama||1||
Meaning : Arjuna said:
Because of your kindness toward me, you have shared this deep and secret spiritual knowledge. Your words have cleared my confusion.
atha vā bahunaitena kiṁ jñātena tavārjuna
viṣhṭabhyāham idaṁ kṛitsnam ekānśhena sthito jagat||42||
Meaning : But what need is there, O Arjuna, for all this detailed knowledge?I sustain this entire universe with just one part of Myself.
yad yad vibhūtimat sattvaṁ śhrīmad ūrjitam eva vā
tat tad evāvagachchha tvaṁ mama tejo ’nśha-sambhavam||41||
Meaning : Whatever divine qualities of goodness, glory, or power you see, know that they are all a part of My divine energy.
nānto ’sti mama divyānāṁ vibhūtīnāṁ parantapa
eṣha tūddeśhataḥ prokto vibhūter vistaro mayā||40||
Meaning : O Arjuna, O conqueror of enemies, there is no end to My divine manifestations.What I have explained so far is only a brief summary of My infinite powers.
yach chāpi sarva-bhūtānāṁ bījaṁ tad aham arjuna
na tad asti vinā yat syān mayā bhūtaṁ charācharam||39||
Meaning : O Arjuna, whatever is the seed or origin of all beings, that am I.There is nothing created—moving or non-moving—that exists without me.
daṇḍo damayatām asmi nītir asmi jigīṣhatām
maunaṁ chaivāsmi guhyānāṁ jñānaṁ jñānavatām aham||38||
Meaning : I am the punishment for those who need discipline. I am the guiding principle or policy for those who aspire. I am the silence of secrets. And I am the knowledge of the wise.
vṛiṣhṇīnāṁ vāsudevo ’smi pāṇḍavānāṁ dhanañjayaḥ
munīnām apyahaṁ vyāsaḥ kavīnām uśhanā kaviḥ||37||
Meaning : Among the Vrishnis, I am Vasudeva (Krishna himself). Among the Pandavas, I am Dhananjaya (Arjuna). Among sages, I am Vyasa. And among poets, I am Ushanas (the great poet).
dyūtaṁ chhalayatām asmi tejas tejasvinām aham
jayo ’smi vyavasāyo ’smi sattvaṁ sattvavatām aham||36||
Meaning : Among gamblers, I am the one who cheats. Among the powerful, I am brilliance.
I am victory. I am determination. And among those who possess goodness, I am the goodness itself.
