kāmais tais tair hṛita-jñānāḥ prapadyante ’nya-devatāḥ
taṁ taṁ niyamam āsthāya prakṛityā niyatāḥ svayā||20||

Meaning : Those whose knowledge has been stolen by desire (kāma) worship various other gods, each following their own rules and principles, fixed by their own nature.

bahūnāṁ janmanām ante jñānavān māṁ prapadyate
vāsudevaḥ sarvam iti sa mahātmā su-durlabhaḥ||19||

Meaning : After many births, the person of wisdom finally surrenders to Me, understanding that Vāsudeva (Krishna) is everything. Such a great soul (mahātmā) is very rare.

udārāḥ sarva evaite jñānī tvātmaiva me matam
āsthitaḥ sa hi yuktātmā mām evānuttamāṁ gatim||18||

Meaning : All these seekers of knowledge are noble and elevated, but I consider the one who is established in the Self to be the true knower. The person who is self-controlled and united with Me attains the highest goal — union with Me, the Supreme.

teṣhāṁ jñānī nitya-yukta eka-bhaktir viśhiṣhyate
priyo hi jñānino ’tyartham ahaṁ sa cha mama priyaḥ||17||

Meaning : Among these four kinds of devotees, the wise one (jñānī) who is always engaged in knowledge and devotion, and who worships Me with exclusive love and single-minded devotion, is especially dear to Me. Indeed, I am very dear to that wise devotee.

chatur-vidhā bhajante māṁ janāḥ sukṛitino ’rjuna
ārto jijñāsur arthārthī jñānī cha bharatarṣhabha||16||

Meaning : O Arjuna, there are four kinds of virtuous people who sincerely worship Me.The distressed (ārtaḥ), who seek refuge in Me in times of pain and suffering. The inquisitive seekers (jijñāsuḥ), who are curious and want to understand the deeper truths about life and the Divine. The desire-driven (arthārthī), who worship Me to fulfill their material desires and ambitions. The wise (jñānī), who have realized the truth and worship Me with full knowledge and devotion.

na māṁ duṣhkṛitino mūḍhāḥ prapadyante narādhamāḥ
māyayāpahṛita-jñānā āsuraṁ bhāvam āśhritāḥ||15||

Meaning : These are intelligent people who misuse their abilities for selfish or harmful purposes.hese people may not be bad at heart, but they are spiritually blind.These are those who abuse their human birth, which is rare and valuable for spiritual growth.These may be intellectually brilliant, well-educated, or scientifically knowledgeable. Their inner nature is hostile to the divine, and they actively work against spiritual values.

daivī hyeṣhā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā
mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te||14||

Meaning : This divine energy of Mine, made up of the three modes of nature (guṇas), is very difficult to overcome. But those who surrender to Me alone can cross over this illusion (māyā).

tribhir guṇa-mayair bhāvair ebhiḥ sarvam idaṁ jagat
mohitaṁ nābhijānāti māmebhyaḥ param avyayam||13||

Meaning : The entire world is deluded by these three qualities (sattva, rajas, and tamas). Because of this delusion, people do not know Me — the one who is beyond these qualities and unchanging.

ye chaiva sāttvikā bhāvā rājasās tāmasāśh cha ye
matta eveti tān viddhi na tvahaṁ teṣhu te mayi||12||

Meaning : Know that all states of being — sattvic (pure), rajasic (passionate), and tamasic (ignorant) — arise from Me. But I am not in them; they are in Me.

balaṁ balavatāṁ chāhaṁ kāma-rāga-vivarjitam
dharmāviruddho bhūteṣhu kāmo ’smi bharatarṣhabha||11||

Meaning : O Arjuna, I am the strength of the strong, free from desire and attachment. I am the righteous desire in all living beings, which is not opposed to dharma (righteousness).
