Chapter 3: Karm Yog(3.33)

Chapter 3: Karm Yog
sadṛiśhaṁ cheṣhṭate svasyāḥ prakṛiter jñānavān api
prakṛitiṁ yānti bhūtāni nigrahaḥ kiṁ kariṣhyati|| 33||

My Understanding : Knowledge is valuable, but if you cannot control yourself, it becomes meaningless. You must understand that true wisdom lies in controlling your actions, especially when you know that certain things are not aligned with dharma. Even with great knowledge, it is essential to know how to behave.

Chapter 3: Karm Yog(3.32)

Chapter 3: Karm Yog
ye tvetad abhyasūyanto nānutiṣhṭhanti me matam
sarva-jñāna-vimūḍhāns tān viddhi naṣhṭān achetasaḥ || 32||

My Understanding : If, driven by ego, you refuse to accept that it is God who is guiding your actions, and if you do not follow His path, you are ultimately ruining your own life. You must realize that it is the divine light from God that enables you to reach the truth, just as it guides those who follow Krishna’s path.

Chapter 3: Karm Yog(3.30)

Chapter 3: Karm Yog
mayi sarvāṇi karmāṇi sannyasyādhyātma-chetasā
nirāśhīr nirmamo bhūtvā yudhyasva vigata-jvaraḥ || 30||

My Understanding : Targets are not determined by the three gunas; they are a result of actions and their outcomes. When we focus on the results, we become attached to them, which hinders the removal of ego. This attachment can also lead to jealousy when others succeed. We should offer all our actions to God and remain detached from the results.

Chapter 3: Karm Yog(3.22-3.24)

Chapter 3: Karm Yog
na me pārthāsti kartavyaṁ triṣhu lokeṣhu kiñchana
nānavāptam avāptavyaṁ varta eva cha karmaṇi || 22||
yadi hyahaṁ na varteyaṁ jātu karmaṇyatandritaḥ
mama vartmānuvartante manuṣhyāḥ pārtha sarvaśhaḥ|| 23||
utsīdeyur ime lokā na kuryāṁ karma ched aham
sankarasya cha kartā syām upahanyām imāḥ prajāḥ|| 24||

My Understanding : Krishna says that He is not required to do anything in these three worlds, and that He gains nothing from performing His actions. Yet, He always fulfills His duties without fail because it is His responsibility to do so. Therefore, there is no connection to the results, and nothing should stop us from doing what is necessary.
