Chapter 11: Viśhwarūp Darśhan Yog
śhrī-bhagavān uvācha
kālo ’smi loka-kṣhaya-kṛit pravṛiddho
lokān samāhartum iha pravṛittaḥ
ṛite ’pi tvāṁ na bhaviṣhyanti sarve
ye ’vasthitāḥ pratyanīkeṣhu yodhāḥ||32||

Meaning : Lord Sri Krishna said:
I am Time — the mighty destroyer of the worlds. I have come here to destroy all people. Even without you (Arjuna), all the warriors standing in the opposing armies will be destroyed.

yathā nadīnāṁ bahavo ’mbu-vegāḥ
samudram evābhimukhā dravanti
tathā tavāmī nara-loka-vīrā
viśhanti vaktrāṇy abhivijvalanti||28||

yathā pradīptaṁ jvalanaṁ pataṅgā
viśhanti nāśhāya samṛiddha-vegāḥ
tathaiva nāśhāya viśhanti lokās
tavāpi vaktrāṇi samṛiddha-vegāḥ||29||

Meaning : Just like many fast-flowing rivers rush toward the ocean,
in the same way, these great warriors of the human world are rushing into Your burning mouths. Just like moths rush into a blazing fire with great speed and get destroyed,
in the same way, all these people are rushing into Your mouths with great speed to be destroyed.

amī cha tvāṁ dhṛitarāśhtrasya putrāḥ
sarve sahaivāvani-pāla-saṅghaiḥ
bhīṣhmo droṇaḥ sūta-putras tathāsau
sahāsmadīyair api yodha-mukhyaiḥ||26||

vaktrāṇi te tvaramāṇā viśhanti
danṣhṭrā-karālāni bhayānakāni
kechid vilagnā daśhanāntareṣhu
sandṛiśhyante chūrṇitair uttamāṅgaiḥ||27||

Meaning : I see all the sons of Dhritarashtra, along with their allied kings,
Bhishma, Drona, Karna, and other great warriors on both sides —
they are all rushing into Your terrifying mouths.

Some of them are seen stuck between Your sharp, deadly teeth,
and their heads are being crushed.

danṣhṭrā-karālāni cha te mukhāni
dṛiṣhṭvaiva kālānala-sannibhāni
diśho na jāne na labhe cha śharma
prasīda deveśha jagan-nivāsa||25||

Meaning : Seeing Your mouths, which are terrible with sharp teeth and look like the fires of destruction, I am confused and cannot tell directions; I have lost all peace. O Lord of the gods, O refuge of the universe — please be kind!

nabhaḥ-spṛiśhaṁ dīptam aneka-varṇaṁ
vyāttānanaṁ dīpta-viśhāla-netram
dṛiṣhṭvā hi tvāṁ pravyathitāntar-ātmā
dhṛitiṁ na vindāmi śhamaṁ cha viṣhṇo||24||

Meaning : O Vishnu, Your form touches the sky, shines brightly, and has many colors. Your mouths are wide open, and Your eyes are glowing and huge. Seeing this, my inner self is deeply shaken. I have lost all courage and peace.

rūpaṁ mahat te bahu-vaktra-netraṁ
mahā-bāho bahu-bāhūru-pādam
bahūdaraṁ bahu-danṣhṭrā-karālaṁ
dṛiṣhṭvā lokāḥ pravyathitās tathāham||23||

Meaning : O mighty-armed one (Krishna), your huge form has many faces and eyes, many arms, legs, and feet. It also has many bellies and terrible-looking teeth. Seeing this frightening form, all the worlds are disturbed — and so am I.

rudrādityā vasavo ye cha sādhyā
viśhve ’śhvinau marutaśh choṣhmapāśh cha
gandharva-yakṣhāsura-siddha-saṅghā
vīkṣhante tvāṁ vismitāśh chaiva sarve||22||

Meaning : The Rudras, Adityas, Vasus, Sādhyas, Viśhvedevas, Ashwini twins, Maruts, ancestors, Gandharvas, Yakshas, demons, and perfected beings — all of them are looking at You with amazement.
