Meaning : Whatever divine qualities of goodness, glory, or power you see, know that they are all a part of My divine energy.
nānto ’sti mama divyānāṁ vibhūtīnāṁ parantapa
eṣha tūddeśhataḥ prokto vibhūter vistaro mayā||40||
Meaning : O Arjuna, O conqueror of enemies, there is no end to My divine manifestations.What I have explained so far is only a brief summary of My infinite powers.
yach chāpi sarva-bhūtānāṁ bījaṁ tad aham arjuna
na tad asti vinā yat syān mayā bhūtaṁ charācharam||39||
Meaning : O Arjuna, whatever is the seed or origin of all beings, that am I.There is nothing created—moving or non-moving—that exists without me.
daṇḍo damayatām asmi nītir asmi jigīṣhatām
maunaṁ chaivāsmi guhyānāṁ jñānaṁ jñānavatām aham||38||
Meaning : I am the punishment for those who need discipline. I am the guiding principle or policy for those who aspire. I am the silence of secrets. And I am the knowledge of the wise.
vṛiṣhṇīnāṁ vāsudevo ’smi pāṇḍavānāṁ dhanañjayaḥ
munīnām apyahaṁ vyāsaḥ kavīnām uśhanā kaviḥ||37||
Meaning : Among the Vrishnis, I am Vasudeva (Krishna himself). Among the Pandavas, I am Dhananjaya (Arjuna). Among sages, I am Vyasa. And among poets, I am Ushanas (the great poet).
dyūtaṁ chhalayatām asmi tejas tejasvinām aham
jayo ’smi vyavasāyo ’smi sattvaṁ sattvavatām aham||36||
Meaning : Among gamblers, I am the one who cheats. Among the powerful, I am brilliance.
I am victory. I am determination. And among those who possess goodness, I am the goodness itself.
bṛihat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ gāyatrī chhandasām aham
māsānāṁ mārga-śhīrṣho ’ham ṛitūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ||35||
Meaning : Among the great Sāma Veda chants, I am the chief.Among poetic meters, I am the Gayatri meter. Among months, I am Mārga-śīrṣha (the first month of the Hindu calendar).Among seasons, I am the creator of flowers (the sun).
mṛityuḥ sarva-haraśh chāham udbhavaśh cha bhaviṣhyatām
kīrtiḥ śhrīr vāk cha nārīṇāṁ smṛitir medhā dhṛitiḥ kṣhamā||34||
Meaning : I am death, the destroyer of all beings, and the origin and future of all.
I am fame, prosperity, and the speech of women.
I am memory, intelligence, determination, and forgiveness.
akṣharāṇām a-kāro ’smi dvandvaḥ sāmāsikasya cha
aham evākṣhayaḥ kālo dhātāhaṁ viśhvato-mukhaḥ||33||
Meaning : Among letters, I am the letter ‘A’ (the imperishable).
Among pairs of opposites, I am the compound word.
I am the inexhaustible Time itself.
I am the creator, having faces all around, all-pervading.
